History

Faculty of Economics and Business

Mid May 1962

The Chancellor of UNITA Jember together with the management of the UNITA Jember Foundation met the Banyuwangi District Head to discuss the opening of the Tawanalun Banyuwangi Faculty of Economics. The Regional Government welcomed the plan with several conditions.

Mid 1962

With the blessing of the Regional Government, the Faculty of Economics at the Tawang Alun Private University in Banyuwangi Regency was officially opened. The event was attended by the Regent of Banyuwangi Mr. R. Soegito Natasagito and BPH Member Mr. R. Djoko Soeroso, Dr. R. Ahmad, Mr. R.Th. Soengedi, and Mr. E. Utrecht from UNITA Jember. The Dean of the Faculty of Economics was assigned to Mr. E. Utrecht, with Soeryopoetro as the Faculty Secretary. The first lecture took place at the Regency Hall with 100 students.

Mid 1963

After finding out that the PTIP Ministerial Decree No. 11/1963 dated January 5, 1963 regarding the nationalization of faculties within UNITA did not include the Faculty of Economics in Banyuwangi, the plans promised by the UNITA Jember delegates in mid-May 1962 did not materialize. The preparatory committee of the Faculty of Economics Banyuwangi urged UNITA Jember to complete the nationalization process immediately. The founders of UNITA Jember went to Jakarta, while the secretary of the supervisory committee of the Faculty of Economics UNITA Banyuwangi traveled separately. They met in Jakarta and together urged the Minister of PTIP to immediately nationalize the Faculty of Economics at the Tawang Alun Private University in Banyuwangi.

November 10, 1964

By the PTIP Ministerial Decree No. 151/1964 dated November 9, 1964, the Faculty of Economics of Tawang Alun Private University Banyuwangi was officially nationalized into the University of Jember. The Dean remained Prof. Mr. E. Utrecht, and Drs. Soeryopoetro served from the Regional Government of Banyuwangi Regency.

December 31, 1965

Prior to the G30S/PKI incident, academic activities were not running smoothly and the acting faculty leaders were inactive. Improvements were made by both the local government and the university. The Faculty of Economics was then supervised by the Banyuwangi branch of the Jember University Coordinating Council. Under the Chancellor's Decree No. 583/UA/22/65 dated December 31, 1965, signed by Acting Rector Lt. Col. TNI AD Winoto, the faculty's status was changed to the Branch Faculty of Economics. A campus was provided by the local government to support branch academic programs for the Faculties of Economics, Law, and Education.

End of 1974

The Banyuwangi branch of the Faculty of Economics, University of Jember, was closed at the end of 1974. This left Banyuwangi without any higher education institutions for high school graduates. The closure followed a decree from the Minister of Education and Culture ordering the shutdown of all faculty branches across state universities and institutions to reintegrate them with their parent institutions.

End of 1975

The campus previously provided by the Banyuwangi Regency Government was temporarily used for education and skills training. These activities were later moved to the Youth Skills Training Center (PLKP) in Labanasem, Kabat District, Banyuwangi.

September 1976

A response from the Rector of the University of Jember, Mr. Soetardjo SH, regarding the establishment of a non-degree higher education institution was well received by the Regent of Banyuwangi, Col. Djoko Supaat Slamet. This institution was created under the Minister of Education and Culture Decree No. 042/II/1907 dated March 16, 1975, concerning the establishment and development of corporate administration expert education. This PAAP program was officially realized through the Rector’s Decree No. 5617/V3207/1976 dated September 29, 1976.

March 14, 1977

The PAAP was inaugurated on March 14, 1977, at the Banyuwangi Regency Hall by Rector Soetardjo DH. The ceremony was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, University of Jember, Drs. Hardiyanto Purbangkoro, and Regent Lt. Col. TNI AD Djoko Sutana Wijaya at Jl. Jaksa Agung Suprapto No. 140 Banyuwangi.

February 12, 1986

At the Pendopo of Banyuwangi Regency, the Chancellor Drs. P. Warsito, accompanied by Regent Djoko Wasito, officially closed the Banyuwangi PAAP program in accordance with the decision of the Minister of Education and Culture concerning Corporate Administration Science. All PAAP students had completed their studies and were working across Indonesia.
